Compere was Sheila Pantry who also organized the event.

The models included men, ladies, teenagers, children - most had never done any modelling before - and it gave an opportunity to one of the models - Pam Marples to fulfil a lifetime ambition to be a model! In addition to Pam, the following people willingly gave up their time to help and brought a tremendous amount of enthusiasm to the event as models for the clothes and accessories - John Gabbitas, Brian Mullins, Andrew Manning, Ken Hill, Val Motley and her daughter Tricia and granddaughter Lois, Christine Ferris, Rachel Gabbitas, Abigail Mosley, Jessica Stafford-Ball, Lauren Brunt, Hannah and Ella Roberts, Harry Rusling, Annabel, and Leah Harriot.

The clothes - either new or nearly new clothes were donated from people in Todwick and supplemented by items from the STCF shop in Sheffield. All the clothes, bags, shoes, boots, jewellery, umbrellas etc were on sale after the show was over.

A Wonderful entertaining evening and thanks to all the ladies, gentlemen, teenagers and children who came to support the event that was held in the Village Hall and raised £310 for the Village Hall Fund and £778.37 for Save the Children Fund.

The 2011 Census is coming

Published: 12 September 2010

The census has collected information about the population every ten years since 1801 (except in 1941). The next census in England and Wales is on 27 March 2011

The census tells us how many people live where and the types of people they are (young, old, married, single). This means decisions, like working out who needs facilities in the future, are focused on accurate, relevant details.

Millions of pounds shared out

The Department of Communities and Local Government and the Department of Health allocate money to local and health authorities. Census statistics feed into that process, which is why you need to be counted to make sure that your community is properly represented in the decision-making process.

Your community and family benefit

You need to take complete and return the Census form so that the services and facilities your community / family uses can be identified. These services include schools, hospitals and emergency services, Census statistics help work out the amount of funding allocated to facilities in communities.

Race for Life Rotherham: Ladies, Do Something Amazing

Published: 11 June 2010

Cancer Research UK's Race for Life will again be returning to Rotherham this summer and promises to be full of amazing moments for everyone.

Last year the event was a huge success. 3,129 women, many dressed in striking pink or fancy dress, took part and raised an incredible £154,536.

Race for Life Rotherham is one of over 230 events taking place all across the country from May until the end of July. Participants simply walk, jog or run 5 km to help beat cancer. Race for Life is the UK's largest women-only fundraising event where all the money raised goes to funding Cancer Research UK's life-saving work. Altogether 700,000 women will come together to share amazing moments.

In its fifth year, the Rotherham event will take place on Sunday, 18 July at 11.00 am. It will begin at Herringthorpe Stadium and participants will follow a route through the surrounding playing fields.

Cancer Research UK funds world-class research and clinical trials throughout South Yorkshire. For example, in Rotherham people with a type of leukaemia can take part in a study to find the most effective treatment for the disease. This important trial will test several new drugs in combination with the usual chemotherapy. Clinical trials like this are vital so that researchers can find new and better ways to treat cancer and help save more lives in the future.

Helen Webster, Cancer Research UK events manager, said "One in three people in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer at some stage in their lives. But the good news is that more people are beating the disease than ever before. Cancer Research UK's work is at the heart of that progress. By helping to raise money through Race for Life, our supporters are turning hope into reality."

It promises to be a fantastic and inspirational day for all the participants, their supporters, and the team of volunteers, male and female, who will be helping out on the day to make the event possible. Women of all ages and fitness abilities are invited to sign up for Race for Life and enjoy a really great day out this summer, whether they want to take part in on their own or as a group with friends, family or colleagues.

So come and join thousands of women all round the country and simply walk, jog or run 5 km and raise money to help beat cancer. Enter now at https://raceforlife.cancerresearchuk.org/ or call 0871 641 1111.

Todwick Art, Historical display, Garden and Scarecrow Trail, Sunday 25 July 2010, 12.00 noon - 16.00

Published: 16 April 2010

Events taking place in Todwick Village Hall, Church, and around Todwick.

There will be Art, Historic and other displays in the Village Hall. The Church and Church Hall will also be open. If you have visitors take them to see our lovely 1086 Church - not many villages have a near 1000 year old church to show!

Already some Gardeners have agreed to open their gardens - but if anyone wishes to volunteer to open their garden then that would add to the enjoyment. It is great fun meeting people in your own garden - why just keep it to yourself when you have made such great efforts? Show it!

If you wish people to just look at your front garden - then that would be most welcome.

For the second year running there will be a Scarecrow competition - for any age group... start to think of ideas now... and let Sheila Pantry know if you are entering the competition. See the pictures of the 2009 scarecrows. See last year's instructions on how to make a scarecrow. Closing date for entry is 10 July 2010. The Winner will receive a prize on 25 July 2010 in the Village Hall in the afternoon.
