Todwick Ramblers Club
About Us
We are a friendly social group and welcome new members. Anyone interested is encouraged to join 2 or 3 of our rambles as guests before deciding whether they wish to join the club.
The club aims to provide a minimum of 2 rambles per month, these are advertised on the village website and on the noticeboard outside the village hall. The walks are usually circular with distances ranging from 4.5 to 6 miles. Some walks begin in or around Todwick, others are further afield, in which case we encourage car sharing. Members are updated about walks by email.
We do not have regular “walk days”, walk leaders are encouraged to arrange a date that fits in with their personal diary. Walks usually start at 10 am. and will have a refreshment stop and longer walks a picnic stop also.
The club is affiliated to The Ramblers Association and has third party liability insurance, which accounts for a large percentage of the annual membership fee, currently standing at £5.

Saturday, 23rd May 2026
The next walk on Saturday, 23 May at 10 am will be from the village of Scarcliffe, which is just to the south-west of Bolsover. The route is a figure-of-eight, giving the option of a walk of 3 miles, or just over 7 miles if doing the whole route.
The start point is at, or near, St Leonard’s Church on Main Street, Scarcliffe. S44 6TD. If travelling south on the B6417, Rotherham Road, turn left opposite the Horse and Groom Inn into Main Street. Park roadside on Main Street at, or before you reach, the Church.
The first section or “loop” is mainly through Roseland Wood heading towards (but not into) Palterton. After a coffee break on fallen tree trunks, we return to Scarcliffe on field paths and a lane. The second section of the walk takes us through Langwith Wood to emerge at the hamlet of Upper Langwith. We take a lunch stop here, overlooking a small, quiet valley. From there, we return on field paths and a farm lane across open countryside to Scarcliffe.
The terrain is mainly flat with a few gentle inclines. There are two stiles on the first “loop” and two on the second - all easy and in good condition. There are no toilets except those provided by the abundance of trees! There is a welcoming pub – the “Horse and Groom” – which opens at 12.
