Remembrance Sunday in Todwick

A Remembrance Service will be held in Todwick Church starting at 9.45 a.m., following which the congregation will process to the War Memorial in time for the 2 minutes silence at 11.00 a.m., and the laying of Poppy Wreaths.

Everyone will be welcome both at the Church Service and at the gathering at the War Memorial.

Please feel free to bring your own tribute to the War Memorial.

Coffee and tea will be served in the Village Hall afterwards.

Todwick Churchyard Open Day

The Churchyard is a very well used space in the village so why not come along and see what is going on?

Church records available for viewing, and histories of certain gravestones, etc. Quiz available (with prizes) as well as tour of church, which is open for prayer too. The churchyard is also a beautiful space for contemplation. The tidy up of the churchyard will continue today if you’d like to bring along your tools and help to make this an even more beautiful space for us all. Messy Church Tent/Flowers for graves, etc.

Free refreshments and hospitality will be on offer in the Church Hall.

Todwick Church Flower Festival

Celebrating church and community, the flower festival will open on Friday at 6 pm, followed by cheese & wine in the hall at 6.30 pm, and a concert by the New Chamber Choir at 7 pm – tickets £3 from Audrey on 771931.

There is free admission to the festival on Saturday (10 am - 4 pm) and Sunday (12 noon - 4 pm), with Festival Communion Praise on Sunday at 10.15 am.

Scarecrow Masterclass for all ages

A Scarecrow Masterclass to show children and anyone else how to make a scarecrow!

Free of charge – refreshments provided.

The Masterclass will be given by Brian Summerhayes who will demonstrate the various easy stages of how to make a scarecrow.

It will be illustrated by photos and there will be a handout listing the various stages of making a scarecrow.

It is hoped that this Masterclass will generate enthusiasm for making a scarecrow to be on show in your front garden for the Todwick Annual Scarecrow Competition 2015. A prize is awarded for the Best Scarecrow.

Are you making one this year… please try to encourage your neighbours to make one… hoping for loads of scarecrows this year. No theme – just what people want to make.

Scarecrows to be on show for Saturday, 18 July 2015 in readiness for judging.

Then kept on show at least up to Sunday, 26 July 2015 when it is Todwick’s Best Scarecrow, Best Allotments and Best Front Gardens Trail day. We hope people will keep their scarecrows on show for the whole of August 2015 school holiday month.

Prize giving for Todwick’s Best Scarecrow, Best Allotments and Best Front Gardens will be at 3.30 pm Sunday, 26 July 2015 in Todwick Village Hall.

Mothering Sunday Service

We would like to invite you to our Mothering Sunday service in Church. This will be a celebration of very special people on this fourth Sunday in Lent – sometimes known as “Refreshment Sunday” when traditionally a break in the Lenten fast was allowed. Our Guides will serve you refreshments in the Church Hall afterwards in keeping with Mothering Sunday.

You are invited to bring a photo or a memento of a special person, or persons, whom you see as fitting the description “Mothering”. This will be entirely private to you and you will not be asked to share this personal memento(s) with others.
