Remembrance in Todwick

A Remembrance Service will be held in Todwick Church starting at 9.45 a.m., following which the congregation will process to the War Memorial in time for the 2 minutes silence at 11.00 a.m., and the laying of Poppy Wreaths.

Everyone will be welcome both at the Church Service and at the gathering at the War Memorial.

Please feel free to bring your own tribute to the War Memorial.

Coffee and tea will be served in the Village Hall after the Remembrance Ceremony.

Craft Fayre

Hand-painted glass, cakes, candles, knitted and sewn gifts, cards, scarves, jewellery, paintings, pickles, honey products, new children’s books, retro treasures and gifts, sweets, toys, vintage flowers and plaques, baby gifts, textiles and mixed media art. Children can have a go at making jewellery.

Raffle and refreshments.

Come along and shop early for Christmas.

Harvest Festival

You are warmly invited to Harvest Festival in Todwick Church.

Donations of food will be gratefully accepted at the start of the service. These will then be divided and distributed around the village, to the New Hope Foodbank and the Cathedral Archer Project.

Harvest is a great season – there is so much meaning beyond the usual bunches of grapes and flowers that decorate the church, as we look to our own harvest, and what we can share with others. Do come along!

Art, Craft, Gardens, Allotments and Scarecrow Trail Competition

There will be art and craft displays and free refreshments in the Village Hall. Also refreshments in the Church Hall.

Scarecrow competition – start thinking of what your scarecrow will look like this year – can be any topics! Judging will take place on the weekend Saturday – Sunday, 19–20 July 2014. So please DISPLAY your scarecrows on these dates and keep them up until after 27 July 2014.

The Best Gardens and Allotments awards will be made again this year. There are 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes for the best gardens and also the best allotments. The Judges will be going round the village looking at the gardens and allotments and then making their decisions. There is no need to make an application for entry.

Lots of FREE entertainment during the afternoon for all ages... Organised races and games for children, face painting, music disco for young people, balloon modelling, bouncy castles – one for young children and for older people, Jenger, inflatable slide, sumo wrestling game, Zumba team will give a demonstration, Weight Watchers have a stand and there will be a number interesting stalls including the Save the Children Fund, Craft Group and lots more including FREE refreshments.

Sheffield Folk Chorale

Sheffield Folk Chorale started in 2001 and has gone from strength to strength. Sheffield Folk Chorale aims to introduce traditional folk music to new audiences; to feature newly written songs and carols (strongly influenced by folk music) and include songs from other countries, times and cultures; to concentrate on strong melodies with new arrangements in three or four part harmony. The Red Lion Hotel is holding a Race Night this coming Friday, 25th April 2014. It is a fundraising event for a local chap who is trekking the Sahara in aid of Safe@Last. It will be a very fun event held in the “Sherwood Enclosure” which will be dressed like a day at the races. We are only charging £1.50. It would be lovely to see the people of Todwick supporting us at this event. First race 8.30 pm.

Super Soup Lunch

Children’s Church

We are pleased to announce that Children’s Church/Sunday Club will start on Sunday, 6th April at 10.15 am. Children will join everyone in church at 10.15 am and then move into the Church Hall for stories, crafts and activities, before coming back into church in time for a special blessing or Holy Communion nearer the end of the service. All children are welcome, however if they are under 4 years of age a parent must accompany them. Children’s Church will take place on the first Sunday of every month.

Mothering Sunday Family Service

Come along and collect some flowers to give to someone special who cares for you – a mum, a grandma, or whoever it is for you that does most of your ‘mothering’. Pupils from Todwick Primary School will also be singing a Mothers’ Day and Spring song at this service.

Todwick War Memorial Unveiling

The Todwick War Memorial will be formally unveiled by RMBC Councillor Gordon Watson.

The ceremony and dedication will be led by the Reverend Vicky Camber, Vicar in Charge of Todwick Parish Church.

Refreshments will be served afterwards at Todwick Village Hall where there will be an exhibition of wartime memorabilia.

Everyone is welcome.

Todwick Toddlers Coffee Morning

Todwick Toddlers are organising a Coffee Morning for the Yorkshire Division of the Children’s Air Ambulance.

If you have any items you wish to donate, i.e. toys, books, bric-a-brac, items for Tombola, please bring them along as soon as possible.

We are also having a cake stall and need cakes, buns, pastries etc. for this.

Donations of any of the above will be greatly appreciated. We will be having a collection tin out at Toddlers for the next few weeks if anyone would like to donate. Feel free to ask members of your family.
